Publish & preview

Live vs draft, subdomain and custom domain publish, unpublish.

Draft vs live

StatePublic {slug}.nertia.aiBadge
DraftNot updated / unavailableDraft
LiveShows latest published snapshotLive

Edits in the editor are saved to your site document immediately. Publish pushes that snapshot to the hosted site visitors see.

Edit + Save (draft document) ──► Publish ──► Live hosted site

Publish to your free subdomain

  1. Open Editor (/dashboard/{slug}?tab=editor).
  2. Confirm footer: Saved (not stuck on Saving…).
  3. Open the Publish dropdown → Publish to staging — label targets {slug}.nertia.ai.
  4. Status → Live. Open View live ↗ from the section menu or publish bar.

Hosted output should match the editor — same sections, copy, and style tokens.

Preview before publish

  • Draft sites: section menu → Open preview — hosted preview route for your slug.
  • Live sites: Open live site — same as public URL.

Publish on a custom domain

Requires Custom domains — Hosting checkout, DNS, Connect domain.

Then in the publish menu:

Menu itemTarget
Publish to staging{slug}.nertia.ai
Publish liveyourdomain.com

Both can stay in sync — staging is useful for checking before pointing production traffic.

First publish ritual

The first time you publish a new site, you may see the warehouse overlay — a short celebration and optional directory prompt. Your site is live on the free subdomain regardless.

Unpublish

Overview tab → Unpublish — sets status back to draft. The subdomain stops serving the public snapshot (behavior matches your site settings).

You can edit and publish again anytime.

Link-in-bio layouts

Some layouts (link stack / link-in-bio) use Save instead of Publish to staging in the bar — structure is locked; you edit copy only. Saved changes still sync to hosted.

SEO after publish

Published sites use SEO settings for <title>, meta description, and Open Graph tags. Custom domains update canonical URL when you connect and launch.
