Printful fulfilment

Before you start

• Read Add a store to a site first. A Printful store is the same store with a different answer to Who ships.
• A Printful account with a store and an API key. nertia stores the key against your site for you; there is no form for it in the Store tab yet.

Where this stands. One Printful store runs on nertia today, the platform's own merch shop. Since ecommerce phase 6 (#1279) it sells through the same cart, checkout and Orders tab as every other store, on a Printful key stored against that site. Its Store tab shows Payments go to nertia's Stripe account. in place of the Connect card. A Printful key for your own site is stored the same way, set up by nertia on request. The pictures come once a Printful store other than the platform's can be shot. The steps below describe the path as it works today.

1. Connect Printful

On Store, under Store settings, Who ships gains the choice Printful once the site has a Printful connection. Pick it and Save. Stripe still takes the money; Printful makes and posts the goods and bills your Printful account for each order.

2. Products come from Printful

A Printful store does not use the Products list. The catalogue is the sync products in your Printful store: each one's variants, prices and mockups are read live, and the product page shows Printful's images. Add or change a product in Printful and the site follows.

With the connector on, search_garments and get_garment browse Printful's blank catalogue, and add_product makes a sync product from a garment and one of your artworks (list_store_artwork). Today those tools are for the platform store only.

3. Shipping is quoted, not flat

Your Shipping rates are not used. At checkout nertia asks Printful for a live quote to the shopper's address and offers those options. Ship to still applies; Printful ships to most of the world, so leave it wide or narrow it to the countries you want.

4. Orders ship themselves

When a payment confirms, nertia sends the order to Printful and confirms it. On the Orders tab the order reads To ship until Printful ships it, and the order page says Printful ships this order and adds tracking itself. There is no Mark shipped button; the tracking appears when Printful posts the parcel, and the shopper is emailed then.

If Printful refuses an order (an artwork missing, a variant discontinued) the order reads Needs attention. The payment is real; fix it in Printful or refund in Stripe.

5. Refunds

The same as any store: refund in Stripe, the order reads Refunded. Cancelling the Printful order is a separate step in your Printful dashboard, and only possible before it goes to print.

Problems

• Who ships has no Printful choice. The site has no Printful key stored. Ask nertia to set one up; there is no form for it yet.
• The product page shows blank images. Printful has no mockup for that variant yet. Generate one in Printful; the page reads it on the next load.
